Those that you use, for the long-term – cars, washing machines, refrigerator.

And, those that you use up – food,

The consumer society encourages us to start to see the products you use for the long term as something that you now use up.

Hence, the rise of fast fashion, where clothes are worn once or twice before being thrown out or donated, mostly ending in landfill.

The annual “upgrade” of mobile phones, computers, TV’s.

Leaving the last model thrown to landfill.

The impact of the current model of endless consumption must have consequences.

Consumtionism fuels the financial economy, but at what cost to people and the planet?
