If you’ve done any kind of work in the spiritual or personal development world, you may have heard the term “time is an illusion.”
According to quantum physics, every thing exists at once. There is no past, present or future. There is only NOW.
The only time to contemplate is the immediate moment. Because you can never actually be in the past or the future, only the now.
The question is…
Which Space Time Reality Are You Referring To?
If you’re open to this concept that time is an illusion, then you may be open to the idea that there are different realities, different dimensions. Parallel universes and alternate space-time realities.
Some of these concepts apply to different types of realities, where multiple and infinite versions of your “life” or possibilities all exist at once. Or, there is no linear y your past, present future
The thing is, regardless of who or what you think you are, by your own observations and experiences to date…
Your current reality is a three-dimensional, physical reality.
The Reality Of This Reality
The reality of this space-time dimension that you exist in is…
You have a physical body that needs food, clothing and shelter.
You experience time as the past, present and future.
Sure, you can only ever exist in the moment of present and now, but…
Every moment you actually experience becomes a memory of your past.
Every moment you think about becomes one of infinite possibilities you could experience in your future.
Living In The Now
The problem with living only in the now is that it asks you to completely ignore your past, and any experiences and observations you have previously made about life and the 3-dimensional, physical reality, which may apply to the present.
And, living only in the now, asks you not to think about your future, and what provisions you might want to think about and start to make for the life style you might want to experience some day.
It’s kind of asking you to forget about every thing and just enjoy the moment. As if the past did not exist, and the future will not exist.
Living In The Now Is Asking You To Disassociate
Living only in the now is asking you to disconnect from the time-space reality you are actually experiencing.
Living only in the now is asking you to disconnect and ignore the reality of linear time and to ignore the needs you have in the three-dimensional reality of space that your body exists in.
The problem with disassociating from the reality of time and space that you are actually experiencing in this dimension, and connecting only to the now, with no thoughts or fears of the past or the future…
Is that the reality of time and space that you are actually experiencing won’t go away.
Linear Time And 3-Dimensional Space
When you live in linear time and experience the physical materiality of 3-dimensional space, the fact is, that is where you are living.
You do have a past, and you will have a future.
And in the middle, you will always experience the future as the present until it becomes the past.
You will create memories of experiences, some good and some bad.
You can and will have dreams and desires for the future.
You do have a body, and it does need food, shelter and clothing.
And it will continue until such time as your physical body stops living on this earth.
Living In Linear Time
The experience you are having in this body on this Earth means that you will need to provide for your self now and in the future.
You will need to ensure food, shelter and clothing for your physical body.
And you need to start thinking of it NOW.
The thing is, when you choose to experience the now as well as the past and future, you can learn from your past and consider what did and didn’t work, and, you can create a vision of your future and the things you would like to experience, and start to make choices in the now that move towards them.
If you don’t consider how you will be looking after your body when you are 70, 80, 90, and you’re not creating on a daily basis what you want to experience at that point in time, then you may end up experiencing something not so great.
Living In The Now Includes Both Past And Future
Living in the now is about enjoying the present moment as much as you can, with a consideration of how it helps you expand and grow from your past mistakes, and how it moves you towards your future experiences.
Living in the now is totally possible, in relation to the past and the future.
As long as you don’t just choose the now and ignore the reality of the time you live in, and the fact that you have a physical body that does and will continue to need looking after.
Living in the now requires making choices that move you towards your future with the best possible experience in the present.
Time is NOT an illusion. It’s really happening, right now, in a 3-dimensional physical reality that you and your body exist in.
