Mind Body Spirit Soul
Knowledge of some kind of Mind Body connection and a spiritual or Soul aspect has been known for thousands of years. We often hear about the Mind Body Soul or Mind Body Spirit connection that tells us that a person is made up of Mind and Body and Soul.
This model is missing one critical aspect, or part.
Consider that we come to Earth as a Soul that in physical form is made up of three parts – a Mind, Body and Heart, which creates a total of four pars of each of us to consider. The true holy Trinity is the Mind, Body and Heart as a physical expression of a spiritual or energetic Soul that splits into the three.
Let’s consider what this really means for our life.
The Holy Trinity
In religion and spirituality, the Holy Trinity is often referred to as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, or Holy Ghost.
The Holy Trinity is often seen to be three people, but in fact could be seen to represent the three parts of a person that emerge from the Soul or core or essence of a person in the physical world. These three parts are:
- The Father or the Creator (masculine) as the thoughts that evolve from the mental Mind.
- The Holy Spirit or Mother (feminine), as the emotions that evolve from the emotional Heart.
- The Son or Child (neutral), as the actions that evolve from the physical Body.
The whole Soul is represented as three sides of an equilateral triangle. These three aspects of the Holy Trinity are all intended to be balanced between one another to form the whole. No one is greater or less than the others but they are intended to be aligned, balanced, unified, and supporting each other.
This means that we need to consider the Mind, Body and Heart and ensure they are all in line with or align with the core essence of the Soul.
The human body is the physical vehicle that allows our Soul to exist within the experience planet Earth and life in the physical.
The body allows us to perceive the external world through our sensations and our five senses of taste, touch, hearing, sight and sound. It also allows us to move around the world and take action by physically moving our arms and legs.
A healthy and well body processes food and transforms it into energy and life force that gives us vitality and allows us to move and function in the physical. Energy keeps our automatic body systems functioning and alive such as lungs that breath air, and a heart that beats blood.
An unhealthy and unwell body holds illness and pain and does not function the way it is intended.
At the core of the physical body is the Brain, which in humans operates in three distinct parts that align with the Holy Trinity and can be referred to as the Triune Brain.
The first part of the brain operates the physical systems of the Body.
The second part of the brain operates the systems of the Mind and thought, and the third part of the brain operates the systems of the Heart and emotions.
The human Mind is operated by the brain and processes and generates thoughts.
The mind allows us to perceive our external environment through the internal experience of thought.
The Mind operates in a way where it processes and analyses our thoughts of the external world to help us give meaning to our external world.
A healthy and well mind has thoughts that help us respond to our external environment in a way that keeps us safe and supports our growth and development, and general happiness and wellbeing.
An unhealthy and unwell Mind holds onto thoughts that start to define who we think we are, or unconsciously drive us to think things and do things that do not serve us.
The human Heart is also operated by the brain and generates emotions.
Our emotions are an internal experience of what we perceive in the external world.
The emotional system includes a range of internal emotions that are us designed to help us understand our external environment.
A healthy and well emotional system allows us to acknowledge, experience, express and respond to our emotions in a way that keeps us safe and supports our growth and development, and general happiness and wellbeing.
An unhealthy and unwell Heart holds onto emotions and contains them within the body, rather than experiencing them , releasing them and responding to them. These “stuck” emotions will continue to appear in an attempt to release themselves from the body.
Soul (or Self)
The Soul, or Self is the spiritual aspect of you that exists beyond the physical body.
It is what existed before your physical body and what will exist long after it is gone. It is the core essence of you and your true nature. It is the part of you that is actually experiencing the physical world through your Mind, Body and Heart.
Your Soul, or Self is what experiences the sensations of taste, touch, sight, smell, and sound.
Your Soul, or Self is what observes the thoughts that pass through your Mind or are generated by your mind.
Your Soul, or Self is what experiences the physical sensations and energies of different emotions that pas through or reside within your body.
Your Soul, or Self is what is perceiving the external world through your Mind, Body and Heart and observing and experiencing it from within.
When you sit back and really observe what is happening internally, you will realise that you are not your body and it’s sensations, your thoughts or your emotions. These are things that you, as your true Self, or Soul is experiencing. They are not you.
Aligning Mind, Body, Heart and Soul
Your Mind, Body and Heart are tools of the physical realm to help you, your Self, your Soul navigate this world.
Your true Soul knows why you are here, and it knows your very real needs, wants and desires. Because it is you.
Your physical sensations, thoughts and emotions are here to tell you when your Soul is on track.
When your external world is aligned with your Soul desires, what you experience internally will reflect this. Your physical sensations, thoughts and emotions will feel good and guide you in a clear direction towards more of what you are experiencing.
When your external world is not aligned with your Soul desires, what you experience internally will also reflect this. Your physical sensations, thoughts and emotions will not feel that great and will be sending you clear messages to guide you away from what you are experiencing and towards something else.
The key to living your Soul desires depends on how aware you are of your internal world and how willing and able you are to consciously choose to respond to the messages it is giving you.
